Sourpuss

Papa brought Amaya home from her little vacation yesterday.  Since is it quite far, he usually stays a day, or two or four... and we love having him around.  This moring we met up with my sister Shayna and brother in law Paul at Perkins for brunch. 

Tayah was getting a bit antsy waiting for the food to come, when my sister suggested I give her the lemon wedge from my iced tea.  Sounded pretty yucky, but I was willing to give anything a shot if it would occupy her for a few minutes.

She loved it, like... "mmmmmmm .... mmmmmmmm...... mmmmmm " over and over, and ate it all.  Now that I think back Amaya was the same way.  My silly girls.

Big Black Box

I love Tayah, I really really love her lots, but oh man can she get into trouble.  It's so fun to watch her explore her surroundings and try to figure things out.   Today was no exception.

As I was making dinner, I looked over to find this.....

Of course, leave it to me to go grab the camera before taking her away.  She was quite proud of her new accomplishment.

Let There Be Grass

There was a celebration this morning in the Pereira household.  I looked outside, and much to my surprise, I saw something odd in our backyard.  Something I haven't seen for a very long time, too long if you ask me.  I saw GRASS!! 

Ok so it was just a small patch, but it's a start!  Au revoir snow... you are very pretty but we hope you don't come back for a long time.

In It To Win It

I have always enjoyed watching American Idol, I really do think it's both fun and entertaining.  And let's face it, there is some amazing talent out there.  We have made it somewhat of a family event this time, and we all enjoy when Wednesday rolls around and we get to hear everyone singing.  This year, our favorites are....

Faux Spring

As much as we have enjoyed this past winter, we really can't wait for the arrival of spring.  Unfortunately, it's just not quite ready to come visit yet.  We have had some really nice sunny days, but there is still a ton of snow on the ground. 

I decided that maybe if I dressed Tayah in spring clothes, it might just give our good friend Mother Nature a little hint.

We are all missing Amaya, as she went out to my dad's house for a visit.  Apparently she is not missing us as much, she is far too busy playing games, going on the quad and playing in the snow.  She always has a great time there!

Empty Space

I love being Canadian.  I love the freedom that living in this country allows.  I also however love that I live close enough to the United States to go awy on some mini vacations and do some great shopping.   My husband may joke, but it really is true, I LOVE to shop, and I love a great deal even more.

This trip was no different than any other, we found some super cute stuff for the girls, for the house and even a few things for mommy and daddy this time!

I think this picture speaks for itself....

If you ask me, I should have hunted for a few more goodies, appears to be alot of empty space in the back of our SUV!

Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives

We love finding cool little places to eat when we go on vacation.  Today we returned to a diner we found the last time we were in Fargo, called Krolls Diner.   It's a 50's style diner, and we love both the atmosphere and the food.   Thank you Krolls for another super yummy meal that everyone loved!

Closer to the Hill

In honour of my wonderful husband Dino's birthday and his pure dislike of photos.... today will be a photoless post. 

We had a great day of shopping, out for a yummy dinner and then back to the hotel for Amaya to go for a swim.  Fun day for the whole family.

Happy birthday to you!!! We love you!!!  And he need not worry, I will remind him that he is officially a little closer to that hill than I am ;)

As part of the Cakesmash photosession we did with Tayah, our photographer includes a birthday invitation collage.  I went to pick them up today and oh my are they adorable.  Tayah had a good time destroying the one I gave her.   Invites are officially in the mail... almost time for a party!!!

Our House has the Chicken Pox

We have now been in our "new" home for just over a year, so it is now time for the builder to come do some year end repairs.   We were told to mark all of the spots that needed to be fixed, and this is the result....

Yes, all of those "dots" are where they need to fix the wall.

Pretty sad that they messed up in so many places and will only repair, fill with putty and then sand.  They will not paint any of the repaired spots, that job is left for the homeowner.   So stupid if you ask me, not really a warranty if we have to do 1/2 of the work ourselves!

Wacky Wednesday

This week is Spirit Week at Amaya's school, and she has been having so much fun with it.  Today was Wacky Hair Wednesday, so we decided to put a bunch of ponytails all over her head.  I have to admit she looked pretty darn cute!!

Think Green

When we built our house, we had them paint everything one colour and although we do still love the colour we chose it is time to change it up a bit.  We decided that we will paint the bathrooms and the kitchen, and then go from there.  Apparently I am a grandma according to my husband, as I told him I don't want our house to "look like a circus with a million colours".  This is what we are considering for the kitchen.....
